Bookends and The Tipsy Filly are bringing together books and cocktails in their new reading group which starts with a visit from Sunday Times bestselling author Milly Johnson.
Milly will discuss her heart-warming and hilarious new novel The Perfectly Imperfect Woman (Simon and Schuster, 12th July 2018, £7.99 pb) while Helen Askew from the Tipsy Filly will give a cocktail making demonstration and offer a delicious menu of drinks.
As a Top Five Sunday Times bestselling author, Milly Johnson has penned fourteen novels about the universal issues of friendship, family, love, betrayal, good food and a little bit of that magic in life that sometimes visits the unsuspecting. Milly is an experienced broadcaster on radio and TV and a patron of several charities. The Tipsy Filly is a mobile prosecco and cocktail bar housed in a beautiful vintage horsebox. Helen Askew, from Wigton, started the business 3 years ago and regularly attends shows, weddings and events around the county. She has started the Tipsy Filly book club with Lucy Matthews from Bookends to offer evenings of laughter, discussion, books and cocktails in vintage bookshop café Cakes and Ale.
This event will take place at 7.30pm, Friday 20th July at Cakes and Ale cafe, Carlisle. Tickets cost £12 (includes a copy of the book and a cocktail).
