Some of the world’s best known literature was created right here in Cumbria. Cumbrian characters have been immortalised in pages from Beatrix Potter’s little Peter Rabbit to William Wordsworth’s Daffodils. All were manifested in our Lakeland County. It’s no surprise then that there are many fantastic authors all over Cumbria. We have collated a few here:

George set up a wildlife rescue centre in Cumbria in the 1980’s. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, told here are some of the escapades from the early days of the centre. From devious pigs to renegade owls, the tales make delightful reading for anyone with a love of animals. Beth & Steve Pipe decided that walking 138 miles around Cumbria wasn’t challenging enough, so they decided to haul a beer cask along, and it was a great excuse to visit the many amazing breweries dotted around the county. From full size commercial breweries to family-run microbreweries they visited them all. With their trusty travel companion, Casky, they climbed mountains, rowed lakes, braved swan invested lagoons and even tried their own homage to Danny MacAskill on the shores of Windermere, as they explored the history of beer in Cumbria.
