Celebrating Armed Forces Day
Celebrating Armed Forces Day
For 14 years, Workington Royal British Legion has always gone above and beyond to create a day of fun, laughter, remembrance, and community. Celebrating all aspects of the armed forces and, in doing so, using the day to raise funds for armed forces charities and cadets.
This year, on June 24th, Workington Royal British Legion will be celebrating Armed Forces Day again.
A pipe band parade will start at 11 a.m. and march from Pow St. to Vulcan Park for a drum head service. Everyone is welcome, irrespective of their chosen association. “Families, friends, and all who appreciate our armed forces are welcome to come along on the day,” says Lesley Jackson from WRBL.
Local bikers will join the parade, making for a great spectacle.
The parade will then march back to the club, where there will be food for all, followed by a day of entertainment that starts at 2 p.m. and runs until midnight.
Expect pipe bands and entertainment from Mickey-T, Miss Pearl, Renaissance, and Syndicate, plus lots for the kids to do throughout the day.
Lesley said, “The day is all about sharing memories, having a good time, and having a nice time with friends old and new. It is a free event with lots of fundraising, so come along; we would love to see you there.”
