This summer Carlisle’s International Markets will return over the August bank holiday, taking place from Thursday 25th – Monday 29th August.
If you have yet to visit Carlisle’s International Market, then you are in for a real treat. It isn’t just about the food, some vendors also sell a vast array of Handmade crafts, Gifts, Furniture and so much more.
All of your senses come alive from the smells of exotic spices and delicious food filling the air, to the vibrant colours of the many different wares on offer. It really is a fantastic sight and brings a real vibrancy to the city centre.
These markets celebrate what Carlisle is all about – culture and diversity.
This year’s summer event will not only see a variety of produce and stalls from across the world, but also there will be local traders attending this year, showcasing their fabulous locally made products.
Carlisle’s Destination Manager, Paul Walker, said “ It’s always a pleasure to host the International Market in Carlisle due to the popularity and this year we are delighted to also add local traders into the mix, we have some fantastic creatives here in the city and it’s great to have them showcasing just that.”
One of the local stall holders is Fairy Sawdust – a local company set up by Nicola Scullion, who creates the most fantastical fairy treasures bringing a little magic to your garden and home. Some of her products include fairy doors, toadstools and even fairy houses.
Another local trader to catch over the long weekend is the Victorian Candle Company. Ran by Brothers Aidan and Ru from Carlisle, this delightful little company makes and sells beautiful aromatic, artisan candles and wax melts! Everything they sell is hand made in Carlisle.
These markets are the perfect excuse to visit the city and take in all that Carlisle has to offer.
So come to Carlisle this Bank holiday and take in the history, the food, the nightlife and all that is waiting to be discovered.
