German Inspired Beer Festival hits the City
Lederhosen at the ready; the German beer-festival Oktoberfest is coming to Carlisle. The Old Fire Station will be holding their take on the traditional beer-swilling event on the 15th of October.
The Old Fire Station will be decked out with long tables dressed in checked Bavarian tablecloths. Revelers will get the authentic Bavarian experience with beer being served in traditional German beer steins.
The soundtrack to the night will be provided by a live Oompah Band filling the Warwick Street venue with a real Bierkeller atmosphere.
Partying starts at 1pm with the beer flowing until 11pm, however for those who prefer their down-time a bit more Delton-Holme than Dusseldorf, the normal bar will also be open providing the usual selection of drinks.
Oktoberfest in Germany is the biggest beer festival in the world. Held in Munich the 16 day festival has spawned spinoff festivals around the world all modeling themselves on the original Bavarian celebration.
Tickets are available for £10 from either the Carlisle Tourist Information Centre (01228 598 596) or via the Old Fire Station website at: www.oldfirestation.carlisle.city
