Workington Town Council is looking for an Estate Team Leader to help manage the council’s parks, play areas and allotments estate.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision and maintenance of the Council’s parks, allotments, play areas and other maintained spaces. There’ll be plenty of manual work to muck in with, as well as supervising staff reporting to you, liaising with contractors, and ensuring contracted activities are undertaken properly.
You will have a general duty to advise colleagues, the Council, and the public of Workington as required on estate management, horticulture, healthy food growing and aspects of the natural environment. As well as managing a small team, you’ll be supervising any apprentices, and trainees who may be engaged by the Council on duties in your area of responsibility.
This is a hands-on job, as well as requiring office and administrative and budgeting skills.
With a qualification in a related field equivalent to NVQ Level 4 or above, you’ll have experience of estate management, horticulture or related work, be computer literate and have a driving license. It’s a new post, to meet the challenges of the council’s expanding role in managing parks and open spaces in Workington.
