US Funk-Jazz Band Stop Off at Florence Arts Centre this Month
Egremont’s Florence Arts Centre will play host to US bandleader, composer and saxophonist De’Sean Jones this week.
On September 29, the jazz musician stops off at Florence Mine as part of his latest UK tour. This will be his first time playing in West Cumbria after a sold out charity fundraiser gig earlier this year at Lanercost Priory.
From Detroit, De’Sean Jones will be joined by his band, Knomadik, bringing their unique fusion of jazz, electronic music and funk to the atmospheric venue. Inspired by the greats, Miles Davis and Charlie Parker and mentored by true masters from Detroit’s own Marcus Belgrave and Rodney Whitaker, to saxophone giant Gary Bartz, Jones has performed live and recorded with Grammy winners The Clark Sisters and Yolanda Adams, even sharing the stage with the legendary Stevie Wonder.
De’Sean’s latest project with his band, Knomadik, continues to focus on creating and releasing new music, bending the genres and playing live. This is music with a passion and a heartbeat like never before and to experience it live is the only way.
De’Sean and Knomadik are set to blow the roof off Florence’s intimate auditorium, this unique blend of jazz, funk, soul and even a bit of hip-hop is not to be missed.
