Summergrove’s on the up! and up! – Summergrove Halls is one of West Cumbria’s best kept secrets and a versatile and varied business. This year they welcomed a new manager. Helen Taylor who has spent much of her career working in hotels across the central Lakes and is excited to take up her new, diverse role!
Summergrove Halls is a complex which comprises a hotel, restaurant and bar, gym and function and conference rooms all within the beautiful grounds that surround it.
Helen is the new duty manager as well as being responsible for the restaurant and functions, she said: “This is different to anything I have done before, and it’s a challenge but I love a challenge. I’m loving the job, there is so much versatility, and because of all the different aspects of Summergrove Halls I’m always kept busy, no two days are ever the same”!
The last few years have been hard-hitting for the hospitality industry; however, Summergrove Halls were kept busy throughout the pandemic – but with the current economic situation, many hotels and restaurants are taking a hit. The importance and value of businesses such as Summergrove halls shouldn’t be overlooked, Helen said: “The business ploughed on through the lockdowns and we are determined to keep going strong at such a difficult time for the industry, we are doing what we can for the local area too, all of our staff are locals, another reason why it’s so important to keep going and for people to continue to support local businesses.”
Not only do they provide excellent, budget accommodation but they also have a fantastic restaurant and bar. At the Grove Restaurant and Terrace bar they serve up delicious food every week and even offer a take-away service. Their Sunday dinners are immensely popular, served weekly they include a variety of meats with all the trimmings!
Things are about to get even better at the Grove restaurant and Terrace Bar. The team have been working to re-create the menu, refreshing it and they will be serving up a variety of delicious new dishes in the near future so this is the perfect time to give it a try if you haven’t already, keep an eye on their socials for all their updated menus, including their pizza and take-away menu.
Helen said: “We are looking at changing our restaurant menu in the coming weeks and you can expect something a little different and a bit special when you dine with us.”
Summergrove regularly hosts conferences for small or large groups, excellent catering alongside dedicated conference suites and beautiful grounds makes for the perfect meeting place.
