Prism Arts bring Shadow Tales to Keswick
Prism Arts Studio Theatre are performing their latest production, Shadow Tales, on 28 November at Theatre by the Lake, as part of a tour to the major theatres in Cumbria which was made possible thanks to generous public support.
Earlier this year Prism Arts successfully ran a crowdfunding campaign which received donations from the public allowing the group to take their latest production on tour. The campaign was awarded matched funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund and in total raised over £7000.
Catherine Coulthard, Prism Arts Director, said: “This is an extra special tour as it has been made possible by donations from the public. Their support really is the best 30th birthday present the charity could have hoped for, we are very thankful”.
Prism Arts Studio Theatre is an integrated group where adults with learning disabilities and professional artists work together in partnership. They create new original productions in their entirety; researching, developing the characters, designing and creating the set and costumes, as well as performing.
Shadow Tales follows the story of the young boy called Charles who, aged 5, moves to England from India to avoid conflict. 10 years later, with just a letter from his mother, Charles returns to India, and with the help of people he meets on the way, he discovers his story. History and folk tales are entwined using the Ramayana from India and King Arthur from England as inspiration to explore the relationship Britain had with India in the 1860s.
This vibrant and creative production uses a mixture of live action, shadow theatre, puppetry and storytelling.
It arrives at Theatre by the Lake on 28 November at 6pm in the Main House. To book tickets for Shadow Tales or to find out more visit www.theatrebythelake.com
