CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON

LIGHTS SWITCH ON – There is no other time of the year that our streets look as pretty as they do when they become illuminated with beautiful twinkly Christmas Lights. The Christmas Light switch on is, for many of us, the beginning of Christmas.

Often celebrated with an event, many towns and villages go to great efforts to make it special, often holding market stalls, fair rides, live music and of course Santa usually makes an appearance! This year Cumbria’s towns have pulled out all the stops, here is the round-up of what’s to come…

Keswick – 18th November

Keswick is having it’s usual lights switch on event on Friday 18th November.  The evening begins with a event hosted by the Rotary Club in Packhorse Court, aimed at children where Peter Rabbit will be visiting, and local school choirs will be singing. This starts at 4.45pm until 6pm.

At 6pm, the focus moves to Market Square where Keswick-based group Local Vocals will be singing for an hour to warm up the crowd, and then at 7pm the lights will be switched on by members of Keswick Mountain Rescue.

Then the grand illumination is at 6pm followed by more entertainment.
