A rare opportunity to climb the bell tower at the Cathedral
Cathedral open day
A rare chance to visit our Carlisle Cathedral’s tower and bellringing room, see the ring of bells and learn more about the history and activities involved in this integral part of the Cathedral’s life and worship.
Tours begin at 10am and will take place throughout the day, lasting approximately 45 minutes. The cost is £2.50 per adult. No advance booking – if you wish to take a tour please make yourself known at the reception table on the day. We will endeavour to accommodate everyone.
Please note that access to the bell tower includes a fairly strenuous climb of 117 steps and a walk along the clerestory. This is not suitable for those who may suffer in enclosed spaces, or at height.
