Phoenix Enterprise Centre (PEC), located at the heart of Cleator Moor, has been a cornerstone of community support and economic development for nearly four decades. More than just an office complex PEC offers a wide range of services that directly benefit the local community and surrounding areas.
A Pillar of Community Support
With community at its core, PEC has helped thousands of individuals by providing crucial services such as employment advice and guidance, business support, and a food pantry that supports some of the most vulnerable in the community. PEC’s vision is to be the entrepreneurial hub of Cleator Moor while ensuring no-one goes without and everyone is proud of being part of a thriving town.
Joanne Crowe, Executive Director at PEC, said: “Our local community is at the heart of everything we do. From supporting people in training, jobs, as well as setting up businesses, to ensuring no one goes hungry and the car parking remains free. We are an integral, valuable part of the town.”
Boosting the Local Economy
Home to 32 tenant businesses and over 250 workers, PEC plays a significant role in bolstering the Cleator Moor economy.
The upcoming £1.1M refurbishment of their phase 3 building as part of the Cleator Moor Town Deal promises even more office space, further enhancing opportunities for local businesses.
Many startups, including successful companies such as William King, Prima Uno, and The Guide Media Group, have launched from PEC, highlighting its vital role as a business incubator.
Community Hub and Tenant Feedback
PEC also serves as a vital community information hub, providing face-to-face support and guidance to the public. Tenants, including Sir Robert McAlpine and Copeland Age and Advice Service, praise PEC’s community-focused ethos, flexible office spaces, and excellent amenities.
Richard Parker of Sir Robert McAlpine noted the positive social impact of working with PEC, he said: “We were introduced to the Phoenix Enterprise Centre in 2023. The location of the office was not the only reason we decided to work with them. Their work within the community was a huge factor in our decision. We endeavour to provide a positive social impact to the local area and utilising the PEC provides that opportunity. Since then we have found PEC to be extremely accommodating and friendly. The offices are comfortable and functional and the free parking and access to local amenities make it a fantastic base to operate from.”
While Lesley Amor from Copeland Age and Advice Service emphasised the collaborative and supportive nature of PEC’s approach, she said: “We have been tenants at Phoenix House since March 2021, and currently occupy two office spaces. As a non-profit C.I.C., it was important to us to be based with a like-minded organisation that works for the benefit of the local community.
Phoenix Enterprise has always supported our organisation by providing flexible office spaces as we have expanded, and have always taken an interest in our work, as well as collaborating on projects to benefit our clients and the community.”
