This year’s celebrations include the annual Christmas Light Switch-On and the much-anticipated Christmas Market and Harbour Fireworks, promising fun, entertainment, and plenty of festive cheer for residents and visitors alike.

Whitehaven Christmas Light Switch-On
Saturday 15 November 2025
The festive season will officially begin with Whitehaven’s annual Christmas Light Switch-On event. Hosted by local DJ Tony Pierce, the day will feature a full programme of live performances from Grace Savage, Lee Adams, and the Committed2Rock Choir, alongside entertainment from local theatre and dance schools.
The lights will be switched on at 4:30pm, illuminating the Market Place and creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere for all to enjoy. Families and friends are encouraged to attend and take part in a day filled with music, laughter, and community celebration.
Whitehaven Christmas Market & Harbour Fireworks
Friday 5 December 2025
Festivities continue in December with the return of the Whitehaven Christmas Market, which promises to be one of the most memorable yet. Over 30 stallholders will be setting up in St Nicholas Gardens, offering a wide range of handcrafted gifts, festive foods, seasonal drinks, and unique local products.
The market will provide a fantastic opportunity for visitors to support local Cumbrian businesses while finding thoughtful, one-of-a-kind presents. From handmade jewellery and artisan cheeses to beautiful candles and festive treats, there will be something to suit every taste and budget.
The celebrations will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display over Whitehaven Harbour at approximately 5pm, providing a dazzling finale to the town’s Christmas festivities.
Whitehaven Town Council is proud to host these events, designed to bring the community together and spread festive joy throughout the town.
