Crooked River Brewery lurch towards the finishing post of their Crowd-Funder and are oh-so close to hitting their target. But – they need that final push, can you help them beat the deadline of January 4th.
Phil from CR said “Several weeks ago we launched a campaign in response to the closure of Jennings to see a continuation of the town’s brewing heritage and hopefully stimulate further tourism and trade into town. Funds raised would allow us to scale up our production so we can sell to more local businesses and introduce brewery tap events in the new year keeping Cockermouth on the map for its brewing heritage.
So far we have raised almost £12,000 of our £20,000 target from over 90 supporters. We are overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity received so far and it’s clear that many others want to see small businesses in small towns succeed.

Phil went on to say “A few weeks ago I met with the CEO of Createc Matt Mellor who was inspired by our vision for Cockermouth’s future, a vision that their company shares.
He offered a considerable donation to our cause which led to us working together on a new beer that could be a gift to his employees or exchanged for alternative gifts at Shills and available for the public. The beer would incorporate elements of their company in the design as a fun way of showing our collaboration.
The limited edition Double Dry Hop Pale ,is a hazy and hoppy beer now available exclusively at Shills, Cockermouth! We are particularly proud of this beer as it marks the first collaborative project with a local business.
By supporting businesses like Crooked River and Shills of Cockermouth, they are helping to make Cockermouth an amazing place to live and work not only for their employees but also for the wider community.
In return we have brewed a beer that embodies their company’s brand with robotic themed artwork thanks to local street artist Beardy Synergy. A great way for the company to show gratitude to their employees at Christmas who can enjoy our beer or exchange for other gifts from Shill’s, such a brilliant idea!
This donation gives us a huge boost and brings us ever so closer to our target. We hope it inspires other local businesses to support us or work with us in the future.”
