Light up the Fells: Lakeland Festival of Light 2023 – 1st April

Light up the Fells: Lakeland Festival of Light 2023

The fells will be lit up once again as the Lakeland Festival of Light returns to Catbells on April 1st.

Camping At Cardewlees

The annual event sees hundreds of people come together to take to the fells and create a stunning spectacle across Catbells whilst raising money for charities.

If you have not seen it in person or participated in the past, you are in for a real treat.

This year’s chosen charity is the Michelle Jurd Trust. A fantastic charity that not only supports veterans across the county but also aims to increase the number of adventures available to young people across Cumbria.

The event is organised by Lakeland Mountain Guides and over the years they have raised tens of thousands of  pounds for several charities.

You do not need a ticket to attend the event; you can just turn up. The aim is to generate as much as possible via donations to the charity with a recommended fee of £20 per person on the night or via their Lakeland Mountain Guide website.

The event meetup time is 5.30 p.m. at the Rawnsley Centre in Keswick.

The event is accessible to all, and if you simply want to watch the spectacle unfold from Keswick, the lakeshore, or the surrounding fells, then come along and watch.

If you do want to participate but aren’t much of a hiker, remember they need people from top to bottom to make this work, so find your place at your pace and simply enjoy. Bring your own torch and come prepared, as it can get rather cold up there.
