Aikton Arms
Aikton Arms – The Aikton Arms is a real country pub restaurant that is a favourite for those in the village and nearby Wigton…
Many folk were delighted when it was announced in September that former Manager/Owner Carol Blamire was returning after almost 12 months away from the business.
Carol took on the Aikton Arms 13 years ago but it was a far cry from the fantastic restaurant/bar that it is now, she said: “When we took it on there wasn’t a restaurant, it was just a pub. We decided to start doing meals and have been doing so ever since.”
In 2021 Carol took some time off to prepare for her baby and leased the pub in the meantime.
However Carol returned this September and wanted to bring The Aikton Arms back to life with a whole new look, she said: “We have redecorated all throughout the bar and restaurant. It’s so nice to be back; it feels like I never left”
With its gorgeous new look also comes a new menu, composed of some of the classic favourites as well as some exciting seasonal dishes. Their specials over the next few months will include things like game, root veg and other autumnal/winter dishes. They also serve up a traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings on the last Sunday of every month! Sunday Lunch is served from 12pm – 2:30pm and booking is recommended as they fill up fast!
Although Aikton Arms closes on Christmas Day they are currently taking bookings for Christmas Dinners in the run up to Christmas. Expect all the classics such as turkey, stuffing, potatoes and veg all adorned in a delicious homemade onion gravy and nestled in a delicious giant yorkshire pud…. It’s going to be fabulous!
Another addition to the Aikton Arms is their luxury pods which are available to stay in all year round. Each pod has free WiFi, smart TVs, off road parking, shower room, kitchenette, underfloor heating, sofa, dining table, double bed and bunk beds, outdoor dining with furniture and garden area to rear. If you fancy getting away for a few nights then this is an excellent alternative to a traditional room and much more luxurious than camping in a tent!
They are also currently operating as a function/event space. If you are looking for somewhere to hold an event such as a work party, funeral tea or birthday event, then contact Carol at The Aikton Arms and they can discuss your needs and tailor the space and food options for your event.
