Richard Preston Heading to Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life

Richard Preston, Historian and Western Front Association Member is heading to Cumbria’s Museum of Military Life, Carlisle Castle as part of their Tuesday Talks Series.

Richard talk “No Labour, No Food, No War” will address the farming link with the war effort in Cumbria during the First World War. He will be at the Museum on Tuesday 13 February. Come along and hear about the demand for more home grown food and the response of local farmers in spite of the problems they faced. Submarine warfare greatly affected the supply of food; hear of how the government enforced its will to feed the nation. No matter what problems existed, farmers also wanted “to do their bit”.

On March 13th  Niall Cherry will be at the Museum with his Tuesday Talk entitled “The Battle of Cambrai 1917.

Each talk will starts at 6:00pm (doors open 5.30pm)
