Liverpool FC Legend to Visit Whitehaven

Footy Fans in Whitehaven have got something to get excited about as one of Liverpool FC’s most popular players ever and legend of the sport Graeme Souness is coming to the town.

The Solway Hall at The Civic Centre is holding ‘An Evening with Graeme Souness’ on 24 November. At the gentleman’s evening the ex-Liverpool player will be talking about his life within the sport as well as offering interesting anecdotes and stories from his lengthy career in football. Graeme will also have a compère who will be announced at a later date.

As a player Souness represented: Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough, Sampdoria, Montreal Olympique, West Adelaide and Glasgow’s Rangers although he is best known for his time at Liverpool FC where he made 358 appearances and was part of the dazzling side that went on to lift five League Championships, three European Cups and four League Cups even captaining the side during the early eighties. Known for his tenacious style of play Souness’s impact at Liverpool is still remembered to this day and remains a legend with fans to this day.

Following his time as a player Souness went on to pursue a managerial career which saw him pulling the reins at Rangers, Galatasaray, Benfica, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Souness is still involved in the game, regularly acting as a pundit for various media outlets. A testament to his contribution to the beautiful game, he was included in the Football League 100 Legends list in 1998, the Scotland national football team roll of honour in 1985 and was inducted into the English Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
