The Crown & Thistle,Rockcliffe

The renowned Carlisle eatery is laying on a feast fit for a king this December.

Alongside their festive menu, which launches next month, the Crown and Thistle at Rockcliffe are introducing a unique, medieval dining experience. A hearty medieval themed feast, consisting of six courses, is to be served on three dates throughout December. The courses, inspired by medieval fare, come complete with sides and trencher bread, while diners will also be treated to a mead jug, a traditional table drink popular in the middle ages, to celebrate the ancient festival.

The banquets, which will be hosted on 7, 14 and 21 December, will offer an authentic, medieval dining experience and booking is essential as seats are highly sought after.

In addition, the Crown and Thistle have also recently introduced their new Christmas menu, available throughout December, with a choice of two courses for £19 or three for £24. The menu features a hearty and wholesome selection of dishes, each with a seasonal twist.

There is still an air of the archaic present, such as the glazed nordic mushrooms, and slow roast beef brisket, mixed in with a healthy dollop of Christmas classics, including, of course, turkey dinner and Christmas pud.

Guests are also encouraged to treat themselves to a tipple, choosing from a selection of wines, prosecco or even a gin cocktail to accompany their meal – well, it is Christmas after all.
