DESCRIPTION:Maryport Light Switch On  \n18 November   \nThe annual switch on of Maryport’s Christmas lights will take place on Saturday 18 November. The event will see the town filled with festive cheer\, with live music and a bustling continental market to give you a head start on that Christmas shopping. There will also be face painting and nail art\, craft stalls and fairground rides to keep the younger ones entertainment. And when you’re all shopped out\, enjoy the free tea and coffee on offer. \n  \nCockermouth Light Switch On  \n19 November  \nCockermouth gets in the spirit of things on Sunday 19 November\, with an all day event to celebrate the switching on of the town’s lights and the start of the festive season. Main Street will come alive with stilt walkers and stalls showcasing Christmas gifts\, crafts\, treats and tipples. A trip to Father Christmas’ grotto will keep the little ones happy\, while parents indulge on obligatory mulled wine and mince pies. There will be live entertainment and performances throughout the day\, from local talent such as Brightside\, Luke Matear\, Stagecoach Theatre and CADS Christmas Panto. \n  \nWhitehaven Light Switch On  \n19 November \nThis year Whitehaven will see a sparkling switch-on event kick off the Christmas celebrations. Organised by Mr Christmas himself\, Charles Maudling alongside the Town Council\, the festivities will take place on Sunday 19 November\, marking the start of an exciting season to come. The CFM roadshow will be providing the entertainment from 12pm and have lined up an international Ariana Grande tribute act and the lauded Little Mix tribute\, Little Fix\, a fresh from their recent BBC appearance\, as well as local dance and singing groups. Santa’s train will providing special trips around the town\, with people enjoying street entertainment\, activities and of course\, Taylor’s funfair. As always the event is expected to draw huge crowds for an evening of Christmas cheer.   \n
