SUMMARY:Silloth Music & Beer Festival Returns This September
DESCRIPTION:Silloth Music & Beer Festival will once surpass itself again this year with another tremendous line up of great beers and fantastic music. \nThis year Thursday 6th – Sunday 9th September are the dates for your diary. Opening proceedings on Thursday evening with the cream of Cumbrian rock talent including four-piece Out On Bail the hard rocking sound of Workington’s AWOL and the increasingly popular Five & Dangerous with their superb Thin Lizzy tribute show. \n \nFriday evening takes a soul\, Motown and Madchester angle with the classy eight-piece soul extravaganza that is Soul Junction. The band loves recreating the authentic sound of classic soul covering songs from Sam And Dave\, Aretha Franklin\, Dusty Springfield\, Wilson Pickett\, James Brown right through to Amy Winehouse and Plan B! Described as ‘spooky’ by none other than Bez\, Happy Mondaze recreate the sound of the originals with such love and dedication capturing the true essence of the band whose punk attitude\, rave mentality and superb songs changed the face of music. And lastly Sarah Collins & Keep The Faith pay tribute to the sound of Northern Soul with a Wigan Casino-flavoured extravaganza of brass-fuelled soul heaven as they recreate the live sound and emotion of the songs that kept them on the dancefloor all night long. \nSaturday afternoon takes us in a roots\, blues and comedy direction with West Cumbrian blues-rock three-piece Mama Sang & The Robot a band who have built a reputation for their love of the blues and originality\, also from the West\, reformed- six-piece folk-rockers Tryckster can’t fail to impress with their fiddle\, flute and mandolin fired folk and infectious melodies and a conscience\, and then to finish the afternoon an hilarious and fun-filled set from North-West institution The Lancashire Hotspots. \nAnd if all that wasn’t enough then Saturday evening offers more treats in the shape of popular local crowd pleasing rock covers act Regulation 21 and celebrating the immense talents of a true American original\, The Prince Experience offer a no-holds barred journey through the myriad musical highpoints of the much-loved and much-missed superstar\, then to close the evening the fantastic Dirty/DC the incredibly busy tribute to the Aussie-rockers AC/DC. Dirty/DC in their twenty years together toured all corners of the UK\, Ireland and Europe to an ecstatic response. All together now “ANGUS! ANGUS! ANGUS!”. \n \nAs always there’s a fantastic range of great acts appearing throughout the extended Silloth Music & Beer Festival weekend including on Sunday daytime. Expect to be entertained with The Crew Band\, much acclaimed The Phonics\, a tribute to Welsh rockers Stereophonics that will include all their classic hits plus choice album tracks and you’ll be left in the safe hands of hard-gigging covers band Superfly who have honed their on the local club and pub circuit for several years. \nOur Kids Zone Marquee will be available on Sunday\, our traditional family day. \nAs ever\, there will be over sixty real ales and twenty-two draft ciders for you to try and to work your way through\, from thirst-quenching old favourites to palate-pleasing newcomers. In addition to these we will also be offering draught lager\, draught cider\, perry cider\, white\, red and rosé wine\, a selection of Alco pops\, soft drinks\, cordials and water! \nThe Silloth area boasts many camping sites\, Holiday Parks\, hotels and bed and breakfast accommodation to cater to your needs. So it’s easy to stay and enjoy the entire festival weekend. \nOver the past eighteen years many thousands of people have attended the festival. It is well supported by the local community and by local businesses\, and it’s always a pleasure to see those who’ve travelled to the town specifically for the event.
