SUMMARY:Cockermouth Live! Promises To Entertain Music Fans
DESCRIPTION:Cockermouth Live\, West Cumbria’s unique town-based music festival is only a few weeks away now. \nAnd this year’s Cockermouth Live! weekend \, 29 June to 1 July\, promises to be the biggest and best ever\, with more than 250 performers in 17 pop-up venues. “Our Aim”\, said Cockermouth Live! chair\, Bob Pritchard\, “is to bring the town alive with music everywhere and to celebrate the amazing talent here in West Cumbria. We are delighted that new venues are joining us this year: Frederick’s for Jazz\, Seth’s bar for acoustic folk and roots\, Christ Church Rooms for Dance\, St Joseph’s Hall for Drama\, Fletcher Christian’s for rock bands. All this in addition to old favourites such as Wild Zuchini\, Coffee Kitchen\, Strolling for Shoes and Moon & Sixpence.” \nLocal visual artists’group EVANWEst are providing an art trail through the town and the Civic Trust are once again offering the rare opportunity to see inside Cockermouth Castle.\nThe Papcastle Community Orchestra will perform a concert entitled “From the Land of the Mountain and Flood” on Sunday afternoon and the weekend rounds off with a Soul party night featuring Penrith based “Soul Junction”. \n \n“We are proud to announce that Saturday Night’s Headline act will be the legendary Dr Feelgood. Formed on Canvey Island in Essex in the early 1970’s\, Dr. Feelgood have become one of the most popular and exciting live rhythm and blues acts in the world. \nDr. Feelgood have enjoyed a string of hits in many countries including “She’s a wind up”\, “Down at the Doctors”\, “Roxette”\, and their best-known hit single\, “Milk & Alcohol”. \nThe current line-up of the band is led by drummer Kevin Morris\, and features Steve Walwyn on lead guitar\, Phil Mitchell on bass and charismatic vocalist\, Robert Kane. \nCockermouth Live! is delighted to have the support of Lloyd Motors Cockermouth in bringing this world class band to West Cumbria. \nTickets\, price £29\, are on sale now from the Kirkgate Box Office\, tel 01900 826448 or via the website www.kirkgatearts.org.uk  \nTickets for Castle Tours are available now from Cockermouth TIC in the Library\, Main Street. \nMore info on the website www.cockermouthfestival.org \n
