Still a pivotal figure in the the city’s leading avant-garde scene his 30 solo LP output\, plus countless collaborations and live performances now hold the the American composer\, author\, guitarist in worldwide praise as one of music’s true greats. \nGary has infamously worked with a plethora of legendary American artists — notably the late greats Jeff Buckley (which whom he wrote timeless classics such as Grace and Mojo Pin)\, Captain Beefheart (fulfilling his lifetime ambition of becoming a member of The Magic Band)\, Lou Reed and Nick Cave. This will include songs from his latest album\, The World of Captain Beefheart\, re-interpreting some of the band’s best-known tracks with Nona Hendryx (of Labelle) as well as his own material\, songs written with Jeff Buckley and Nick Cave. \nArmed with his legendary 1966 Fender Stratocaster and 1942 Gibson J-45\, Gary will delve into his vast repertoire for an unforgettable evening of live music. \nFAC manager Craig Carruthers says\, “Gary is playing just a handful of dates on this summer tour\, including legendary venues such as London’s Bush Hall\, St Luke’s in Glasgow and Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall. I’m so thrilled that we’ve been able to find a slot for Gary to play in Cumbria\, at what will be by far his most intimate performance. Due to our size I’d recommend booking tickets in advance for this one or you might miss out!” \nBut don’t take Craig’s word for it… Gary’s fans and collaborators include Bruce Springsteen – “You’re a phenomenal guitarist”\, Lou Reed -“I could listen to you play for hours\, Gary…beyond cool” and Leonard Bernstein – “Man\, you were really wailing!” \n \nTickets for the show are available now from the venue’s website\, or in person at the box office (open Wednesday to Sunday\, 10am to 4pm). \n  \n \n
