Carlisle Bakers Invited to Create Showstoppers
Budding young bakers are being given the opportunity to create ‘show-stopping’ cakes as part of this year’s Carlisle Foodies Fest (Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 October).
A new Carlisle event will serve up lots of tasty treats in the city centre pedestrianised shopping area and will include a cake show-stopper competition open to 15 – 20 year olds. A £100 One 4 All voucher will be awarded to the winning cake, the second prize will receive a £50One 4 All voucher and third prize is a £25 One 4 All voucher. The first prize winner’s school/college will also win £100 One 4 All Vouchers.
The cake needs to be made at home and dropped off at the Carlisle Tourist Information Centre before 12pm on Saturday 1 October. The cakes will be judged between 2pm – 3pm on Saturday 1 October.
The Carlisle Foodies Fest has been organised by Carlisle City Council and is supported by Cumbria County Council and the Cumbria Local Enterprise Partnership.
The jam-packed programme will include food demonstrations by two celebrity chefs – Michael Caines MBE and Sean Wilson. Free tickets to see the celebrity chefs in action are now available online at www.discovercarlisle.co.uk
The Carlisle Foodies Fest programme will also include a yurt selling ‘Pints and Prosecco’, a market showcasing local traders and a Kids’ Zone marquee with ‘have a go’ activities and children’s entertainment.
